Does anyone have a source for the heater box cable that runs from the dash mounted switch to the heater box damper under the hood? I've had no luck finding one. Thanks.

I don't know where to get this cable - however, I have repaired heater cables using parts from the Dorman universal choke or throttle cables.

Any parts store can get the Dorman stuff easily.

You could probably make one using a lawnmower throttle cable. You could heat the wire and bend it around into a ring with a pair of needle nose pliers.

Barney's jeep store on eBay lists several heater control cables for the 72-75 cj5's . One for the damper and one for the heater control valve I think. Maybe these will help you out.

I would get the best one that I could -- aircraft grade. It's cheap enough. I've found the Dorman ones to be weaker than the original cable.

They make a tool for forming the eye in the cable. upload_2021-4-14_17-47-32.jpeg

I order the cable and the K-D Coiling pliers. Thanks for the info. Finding an original part for this jeep has been quite the challenge.

The coiling pliers are cool, but not really required. I made a loop on the end of my replacement cables using an uninsulated ring connector (an electrical part) and my gas stove. I put the wire through the crimp part, heat it to soften the wire, bent it over, pulled back and crimped. I also soldered, but you probably don't need to do that.
