Just curious about how the heck they made this stuff. It's obviously (?) a piece of tube that, I'm guessing, got drawn through dies to form it into the H shape but how did the get the nice square flat floors in the middle? And form the bumps in the sides to retain the seal?

Should I even ask about forming the corners & keeping everything straight?

You could make it by soldering two sections of Channel back to back

Is it not the same profile as other windshields of the era like the venting VW bus windshield?

And keep in mind, that "H" profile is hollow, and not painted inside. That why they rust from the inside-out. There are 12" "repair sections made that are available on eBay. I've looked at how smooth and distortion-free the rounded corners are. I haven't figured how Willys made these either.

    Got a link?

When I cleaned up mine i made sure to run por15 through the middle & seal up where the screw holes are at.

Howard, check these item numbers on eBay. The first number is a center divider with symmetrical channels. The second number is a side of a frame with the assymetric channels.

Those are made with a rolling press with special dies...

Not exactly OEM quality I'm thinking.

If that is how the MB/GPW/CJ2 were formed with a roll over then they changed the process for the 5's & I suspect the 3's as well.

Beggars can't be choosers! At least there may be an option for replacment material to chop out a rusted section and weld in fresh metal.
Now I need to find the upper "hinge" section that is welded to the main winshield frame. I was hoping it was the same as the Wagon rear hatch hinge, but its not the same.

Probably bent too. Maybe a forming mold. Are there any stretch or shrink marks on the corners?. Amazing what a stretcher or shrinker can do...
