I'm looking for some pictures of T98 tranny covers and how they line up with the lower floor panel. Also, how did you notch the floor panel for the TC shifters?

Pretty sure the later T-18 uses the T-98 covers. Some pictures I saved in this thread: `70ish CJ5s?

Crude, held with sheet metal screws. Maybe the mil models were more elegant.

Mine isn't military. I haven't been able to confirm any A1s came with the T98. I wouldn't call mine elegant. Just has never been bolted in.

Mine is not a T98, but might still be helpful.

IIRC, yours is custom. Eh, Tom?

And for your TC, did you cut a notch in the panel? Or did you cut a hole and leave the edge of the panel intact?

Yes, I have an SM420, but it looks like the shifters are close to the same place as yours.

I think I had to notch into the tub floor a little. I was just glad it missed the tool box area.

    Don, regarding this

the Jeep factory installation uses the 3-speed floor panel that's missing in your picture and (crudely) cuts it back to just long enough to accept the sheet metal screws that go through the margin of the T-98/T-18 cover. Somebody at the factory trims it back - the ones I saw were not neat.

That's guys. I think I can do at least as bad as what's shown in Tim's picture.

Here's what I ended up doing. Far from perfect but for my needs, and skill level, I'm satisfied. Ended up trimming more of the lower floor plate than I originally thought I would need to. Had to trim the tranny tunnel itself as it wasn't lining up exactly. Maybe they are hand formed and there's a variance?

The hole for the shifter was way off from how mine sits so that needed quite a bit of hacking. I'll need to figure out a large boot base.

Ended up using rivet nuts to secure it. Worked well. A few holes were slightly off after I tightened others. Used a block of 4x4 and a BFH. Was able to adjust the plate by1/8" or more.
