I picked up a hardtop for my CJ5 a couple of weeks ago and it has an official looking Jeep emblem on it, though it looks like a Meyers from the photo research I've done. It came with an aluminum roof rack installed on it and I'm wondering if: a) Jeep actually marketed a hardtop for the 1966 era CJ's, b) if they were available with a roof rack. The rack looks like something off a station wagon though the holes in the cab don't look to be drilled. I'll try to attached the pictures. Thanks for any insight and or history.

At least some of the Meyer steel cabs that I've seen came with a "Jeep" label on the interior rear that proclaims it factory authorized Jeep special equipment. It also says Meyer in small print below.

Thanks Timgr - that's it. I traded a 1978 Chevy pick up to a friend and he and his boys are prepping my CJ for paint in exchange. We'll see if we can keep the label affixed for some purpose or another - certainly not for resale value!

Great - glad that helped. Don't know about the roof rack. There's no Jeep special equipment like that for the CJ that I can find. There was a factory or dealer installed roof rack for the Wagoneer that used well nuts in the roof steel. Could be that. Nothing like that for the Meyer cabs though.

That sounds right as it was attached with well nuts and even had one of the plastic boots to protect the top from rack "Feet". I don't imagine I'll use a roof rack much but I'm considering remounting it once paint has been applied. I mostly want the top for winter driving here in Northern California because of the rain.

    I think that's a wagoneer roof rack.
