What size and where did you get those bolts for the new plate you bent? I like those and may change all mine out to those unless they are sheet metal screws.

  2. measured out some patch panels. Nothing crazy. But I just can’t ignore it.

Right side was a bit worse. But not too bad.

Good enough for me! Good enough for Jeep floors.

  3. those original floors didn'tseem too bad, just a little rust. my passenger one was so bad that i'd sometimes knock the tranny shift knob (not secured in any way at the time) onto the floor with my knee, and it'd go right through the floor in about 10 different places. the toolbox is unuseable as well, as it's so bad rusted it can't hold stuff.

  4. make sure you cut out all the rusty metal and clean the rest. someone did NOT do that when they patched this jeep up, and now it's rusting from the inside out.

Are you sure you have to replace that floor? From your pics it doesn't look like much more than surface rust under the paint....

Sooooo, want to make me some floor pans? Been dreading that project.

  7. finally got the Jeep registered. Which means I’ve been daily driving it. It’s been 90’+ here so I went with some heat and sound stuff for the floors. Doubled up around the fire wall. And put in a carpet kit. I love it. Carpet kit helped a lot. I can actually have a conversation in the cab while driving now.

Since I live in a condo down town, I’ve just been doing all this at local parks in the afternoon or in my parking garage.

  10. Just got my tires balanced, after driving it for a few weeks. Damn thing feels like a Cadillac now compared to what it used to feel like.

Before 50-55 felt like the car was ready to explode. Now she’s cruising happy at 62-64 all day. ACA34D1D-A5E9-439E-9B54-A50A3C51838C.png

  11. I’ll be in truckee Sunday! In the Jeep. Going up Saturday to camp with some buddies. Gonna head up threw incline when I get off work. Then dodge over to tahoe city, over to truckee. I’ll have to come find you and say hi.

  12. FIRST ROAD/ CAMP TRIP.
First trip out of town heading up to Lake Tahoe, Then staying the night in truckee CA.

Grabbed some fuel, checked the oil, and grabbed some road sodas for the cooler before heading out.

Little over 100 round mile trip. Starting out with the roughly 4,400ft climb up mount rose highway from Reno, over to incline village. Had to stop at the summit to say it made it haha.

Stopped for lunch. Met some friends in kings beach to cool off and have a beer. Then met them at there camp site in truckee.

settling in was nice being the only one not having to put up a tent. Just unbolted the passenger seat frame, unrolled my sleeping bag and threw my thick blanket over it. Rolled up my sweater for a pillow. It’s nice being short haha. 76067EAB-4B9C-4662-B3AF-0070DFCEE7F9.jpeg
Woke up the next morning, it was nice to pack up and be ready to go in 15 minutes as I watched everyone els pack up for a hour and a half. Said goodbye to some friends and heading down to old truckee for some breakfast.

After breakfast I hopped on I80 east, cruising with the semi‘s at 62-67MPH. Stopped at the state line to snag one more photo as I finished driving home. As I drove the last leg home, wind in my hair, music bumping, My dads old club plaque on the back corner panel. hands on the big wheel, looking on my hand wearing my dads old wedding ring. Thinking this all came about after his passing a little over a year ago. Was just driving home thinking how this was the kind of stuff he was doing before I was born. Good little moment to wrap up the trip.

I can't believe you got on I80. I recall it being like the autobahn.

He does have an overdrive now! Do you have 3.73 gears, or something lower?

What a great story, thanks for sharing. I was just looking at my jeep in the garage the other day and thinking I could sleep just like you did. I'm glad to see it works fine.

Cograts on a good running Jeep, a great trip, and reliving some of your father's experiences. Just good all around.

  17. Yeah I little bit but semis on the California side is 55mph I think so they were doing the same speeds 60-65. I even made a couple passes along the way . She’s a champ. Solid driver.

  18. Go for it! I’m 5’6 and my heads just to the front of the toolbox lid.

  19. Was a good time forsure. Been daily driving it for just over 3 weeks and put 600 miles on it.

And lastly the plates came in the mail today, had to put those on before heading home. Besides a lil body work and paint. She’s done and she’s a runner. Don’t know what my plans are on the future with it. But I’m going to enjoy it for now.
