    The 230 drops in for the 226. Why not go for the modern engine? :watch:

    The 144/170/200 is said to be short for an inline 6. The ones I've seen in a Jeep have all had the firewall pushed back though.

    I believe the Studebaker was popular in the day because they also used the T-90 in their cars.

    Another popular engine back in the day was the Chevy II 153CI 4 cylinder. Basically a Chevy 6 with two cylinders chopped off. Harder to find now-of-days, but Mercruser put a lot of them in boats, so they're out there. Has a standard Chevy bellhousing so adapters are easy to find.

    More interesting would be one of the Pontiac Tempest slant 4s from the 60's but much harder to find: Pontiac Trophy 4 engine - Wikipedia It's a Pontiac V8 with one bank chopped off. Kind of like a Scout 80 motor.

    I have been thinking about a wagon with a Chevy Stovebolt Six in it, I have a 235 squirreled away for it, Someday :)
