Did They Ever Make This Tool?

I still have a special 'distributor' tool from my days of youth for Pontiacs. Basically is is just a box end with a long L handle at just the correct angle to make it easy to get to the distributor lock down bolt way back up by the firewall. It was VERY handy. So getting to the nut on the carb by the valve cover is a real pain. Did they ever make such a tool? I know I could make one, but wonder if they existed.

I made one, but I'm not "they." Works great.

M38A1 manual shows a tool very similar, but it is 11/16", for cylinder head bolts.

Yep, commercial wrenches for that app have been around since the advent of "modern" V8's. I have found a hex socket (allen head) bolt works a lot better back there and just use a long round tip hex driver on it. No slipping and ratchet action.

When I couldn't find a L-shaped distributor wrench - or make one from what I had (cut and weld which didn't work all that well) - I eventually went to a closed end wrench with internal ratchet mechanism. Its always in my jeep glove box right next to the screw driver for the carb...always on hand for a quick adjustment when changing lots of altitude.

Wow, Scott, that may just work. I was googling Willys carb tools and didn't find anything. Duh, didn't think about just googling distributor wrench. Thanks.

I have quite a few of those wrenches along with some very specialized heat and bend fold and mutilated brand tools

Most of the ones list on Amazon look exactly alike AND get some pretty bad reviews about just bending, twisting and deforming. Most likely all the same Chinese crap.
