Walck's Wiring Harness Install - Tips?

1956 CJ5, F134, 6 volt... Bit the bullet and ordered a Walck's replacement wiring harness earlier than anticipated to replace my mostly original wiring. The Walck's unit arrived today and it looks great and seems to be good quality. The instructions, though brief, seem pretty straight forward once you get the hang of reading them and I have a nearly complete original harness to follow as well. All of the bullbs, gages, etc work now so any screw ups will be readily apparent. I don't anticipate any major installation issues on Saturday but wanted to see if you all had any additional hints before I dive in.

I think I've read the pertinent threads on this site, but didn't know if anyone did an install in the past 8-12 months that I may have missed.

My main concern is the voltage regulator and generator wiring... does anyone who has done a Walck's 55-56 harness install have generator and voltage regulator pics or a better diagram than what came with the harness or my manual showing the colored wires going to the proper posts/connections? My original wires are filthy and colorless so they won't help and it seems like regulators vary a bit. This is not an area that I want to experiment with.

Also, I won't be installing turn signals at this time, though the harness has provisions for them. Should I just tape up the unused ends really well or is there a better way in case I go to install the turn signals down the road?

Not a complete novice - I rewired my M38 a few years ago but that was easy as all of the wires have the numbered metal tabs, Douglas connectors, etc. Certainly no expert. Thanks in advance for the help!

Looks like you have them correct blue/white to the armature, yellow black to the field & black/white is the reference ground.

    That's what I'd do.

I used Walcks harness. I added a ground block under the dash. Ran a wire from the ground block to the negative on the battery. I grounded my fuel gauge , cluster, turn signal , aftermarket heater and probably a few more things. If you think it might need a good ground, run one.

If I were doing it again, I would relocate the fuse block to an easier access point than way up under the cowl, where you have to be a contortionist to access it, shall the need arise down the road?

That's the only advice I have

One trick I would recommend is for the dash wiring drop the steering column down & pull the dash panel forwards supported by some long 1/4" bolts in the lower corner mounting holes, beats lying on your back trying to do things.

more good stuff - thank you! I was contemplating dropping the dash - this pic makes the idea even more appealing. My usual motto is "making the easy impossible" but I might amend it tomorrow :)
