Finally got the Jeep running today, was able to drive it around a little, Whooo Hooo!!!
Turned out to a bad ignition switch that wouldn’t keep the electric fuel pump running (among other things).

Next issue. None of the lights work, head lights, parking lights, brake lights, turn signals. Is this a collection of problems, or is there a single point of failure in there somewhere. FYI, at this point I have checked nothing. First place I plan to check after I check bulbs is the headlight switch.
    Any ideas?

Look at the back of the light switch for a circuit breaker. Try bypassing it.

    Do you have a FSM?

Yes I have an FSM. I check the wiring diagram and saw the switch and a junction block on the left front fender.
    BTW, this is a 1960 CJ5.

Did the lights work before you replaced the ignition switch?

yep I would start by seeing if 12 Volts is at circuit breaker

:bananatool:Progress. I replaced the head light switch and I now have high and low beams and tail lights.
Next on the list are brake lights. I looked at the master cylinder and  How do I get to it to remove it?? I will look again, but it looks like between the exhaust, frame, and the engine there is no easy way. I’m looking to remove the MC because I have virtually NO brakes. I can slow down, if I have plenty of room.

Check the MC for brake fluid level.

I did, it was a little low but not mad. I added some.

Have you tried bleeding the brakes? Adjusting them?

Yeah, there are a lot of things I'd check before pulling the MC.

My 65 has a pressure switch on the master cylinder which activates the brake lights.

Mine does too. I’m in the process of a complete brake check and replacing that is part of the plan. It seems that there isn’t a good switch in this Jeep, which, I guess, is sort of a good thing, switches are easy to replace, tracing wires, not so much.

Thanks for the input, helps confirm my plan.

Here’s an update for anyone who may not have seen the Brake Help thread. Replaced the brake cylinders and now the brakes work.
Next on the list is getting the brake lights and turn signals to work. has anyone been inside the turn signal switch? The flashers and the right signal work.
    Can it be cleaned/fixed.
Next question, can the brake light switch be removed without much risk of it breaking it off?

There isn't a whole lot to a turn signal switch, might just need cleaning. Brake light switch coming off is anybody's guess. I personally haven't had one break off. Have you verified the switch is bad?

No but I will before I remove it. I will make sure it is getting voltage then check the function of the switch.

There have been a number of very detailed threads here in the past. Did you try searching the archive?

All the wires from the Spartan turn signal come together right next to the heater on the firewall above the steering column, under the hood. My Problems started there, after 40 years the plugs get corroded, I unplugged one at a time and cleaned them and tested them to see that they were good. They are double bullet connections, so there is a lot of room for corrosion. I had a brake light quit working last summer after 12 years, found the problem there. As far as the Spartan turn signal wait until you have checked everything else first, then go there. Most of the time it is just dirt and old age that causes a problem, contact cleaner and a good cleaning takes care of them most of the time.
