A couple of months ago, I put a WTB ad in the Classifieds section for a pair of the flat bar type OEM rear seat support brackets like this:

John (Johns1967CJ5) very kindly sent me this full-size tracing of one of the original rear seat support brackets from his '67. Since no OEM brackets had surfaced at that point, I'd intended to measure the dimensions from this sketch in order to have a couple of them made:

However, shortly after I received John's tracing, Mike Starck did me an enormous favor by sending a pair of OEM brackets from a mid-70's back seat that he didn't have a need for (thank you again, Mike!) This photo shows John's tracing overlaid with one of the brackets Mike sent:

It turns out that the two bracket designs are/were basically identical, with a few minor exceptions: a diagonal gusset of 1-1/2" x 1/4" flat bar stock was evidently added at some point during the AMC years; the horizontal front "foot" is about 1/2" shorter on the 1970's bracket; and the hole previously located in that foot was deleted in the later version.

These drawings show the dimensions of the OEM bracket, as measured from the mid-1970's examples Mike sent. Hopefully these will suffice if someone wants to make a pair themselves, or have them made up by a shop:

Also note that jwmckenzie previously posted excellent drawings of the OEM rear seat retaining brackets / straps (which bolt to the bed and the above support brackets slide under) and locking pins here: Rear seat install Question

Once I get to it, I'll start another thread to show how I'm adapting the OEM brackets to fit a mid-60's Jeepster rear seat I recently purchased and am having reupholstered.

The set of brackets I have match the tracing you received from John1967CJ5. The seat I have was purported to be a '67 seat. The brackets are bent and if a gusset was added, as in the mid '70's seat, the bend would not have occurred. Someone in Engineering was paying attention.

Very nice and many thanks for this info.

What's the orientation on the bracket; i.e. which way is the front of the Jeep?

Here's how the rear seat support brackets and the retaining brackets on the cargo floor are installed (photos from Johns1967CJ5's build thread):

My good friend James was kind enough to fab up a set for me.

Way to much to post up on here.
Was around $200 in materials (including material for jig's, electricity, welding rod etc) and he had around 30hrs in labor total.
Since I did not have a set for him to go off of, just pics and schematics, it was a seat of your pants job.
Most likely will not make any more just because of the time and cost involved and does not think that people would pay the price.
He did say that he enjoyed this project, but guesses that some of the brackets were press stamped from the factory etc and he did not want to make up a jig in order to press out the floor brackets etc.

Because he did not want to make a press jig, he made each one out 3 pieces, tig'd them, then shaped to spec.

Did you source the pins to hold the seat in or did you fabricate them? I have the springs. Johns1967CJ5 bent his own and used a washer and cotter pin.

Yes, absolutely! I would be a buyer as well since I have a seat that came with jeep...but no brackets or hardware :(
