So if one would do the dual circuit master cylinder upgrade, would this pedal be needed to eliminate interference?

 

I can't answer that for certain but I don't think so. In one of his rebuilder's manuals, Moses Ludel converted from single to dual MC without changing brake lever, IIRC.

 

Trying to stay original, but may have to adjust the scope too. I see many others have.

 

Like I said earlier, if u want original, then torch and vise and trial, and error?

There may be light. You are correct about a different pedal. Found a nos "bent" pedal at debellas. Should fix my issue. They are pricey though.

 

Earlier in this thread Oldriginal86 asksd if the V6 brake lever was needed for a dual MC conversion. While I don't have a brake lever from an F-head CJ5 I do have one from a CJ3 (pictured below) and believe it would clear a dual MC as well. Aside from the pushrod pin and direction of upper jog, it is very similar, and I doubt very much different from one from a pre-V6 Jeep. And I have to believe that the left-jog lever was used on both F-head and V6 5s once V6s became an option.

 

The brake pedal looks like the one I just ordered from debellas NOS. The jog at the mc looks right. Just hoping it clears bell housing. May need to jog a little more at the top. Is the casting number 647635?

 

That casting number on the one I have mounted is 941416.

I have my V6 brake arm, #941416, as Cadwelder shows. This has the stepped pin for the brake pushrod. Mike (Mcruff) shows the same part number he's reworking for a customer, but it has a small diameter non-stepped pin. Same casting number and bends, but single vs dual master cylinder? Different part number???

When I bought my 70, the pedals were not installed, but there was a box with pedal parts in it. That box had a straight pedal with the pivot well worn out. The casting number looks like A404. The jeep has an OEM dual mc and the 225 V6. That pedal also has a push rod pin with cam like diameters. I need the curved/bent pedal. I bought a new one from kw. It was straight with a pin that has no steps. I found the curved one at debellas. Casting number is 647635. Seems like there were lots of pedals to accommodate all the mc, engine, and tranny combinations.

 

So does the one from DeBellas fit correctly?

It should be here Wednesday. It's cold outside but I need to get it done. I'll let you know. It looks like the one cadwelder repaired for another member here. He had to add a slight bend at the top and it looks like this one will need bent too. His has a different part number but looks right.
