Paint Stripping

I have used a product in a blue can with an picture of an airplane. Called "Aircraft Stripper", I think. Not sure it is still available at auto paint store.
I used my blast cabinet with glass beads if I could get the part inside

 

I actually found MEK today (not the substitute) at an AG store today when I went to buy grass seed. I was suprised so I picked up a can since I have to strip the paint on my Chevy. My DD is a Chevy Tahoe and for whatever reason, all the one's painted white have mechanical adhesion issues and tend to lift. Mine is doing that too, so since I have to redo the paint on the Jeep, I'll paint my Tahoe while I'm at it.

Got one side of the Commando done using a paint/rust stripping pad on my 4 1/2 grinder. Down to the bare metal fast and with not much mess. Only draw back is they do not last long, took three to do the side. They were much faster than the wire wheel or DA sander. Tried chemical paint stripper(not MEK) and it only took off a layer or two at a time and messy. Tried to post a picture, but I'm still to dumb to figure out the resizing thing.

 

This is the only way to go...i hate chemicals but if youre going to use them...use them
BTW it melts powder coating like no tommorow...

 

Any decent paint stripper takes powder coating off, usually easier than paint, because its one thick layer.

Strip the Tahoe with a single edged blad ein a window scraper. Sand the e coat primer with 180 on a da seal it and squirt it. Have done thousands of warranty paint jobs. The white paint can’t stop the uv rays and they bake the primer causing lifting paint.

 

Got it all stripped using these 10 pack 4-1/2 x 7/8 Replacement Disc for Paint Rust Remover, Stripper 696544051709 | eBay Worked great but quite dusty.

 

Interesting, thanks for that because I didn't know why the paint was lifting.

 

I used the razor blade. Quiet and clean and it left the primer. The more layers of paint you have the better. It takes them all at once.
