M170 Cj6 Frame The Same?

Is an m170 and cj6 frame basically the same? Would a cj6 body fit on a m170 frame w/o modification? Thanks

 

The frames likely would interchange, but the military frames usually have more braces and gussets, plus the front of the M170 should have the shackles reversed. I expect a CJ6 tub would easily fit on a 170 frame.

I presume it would. Likely only minor differences. The M38A1 frames are the same as the earliest CJ-5 frames except the mil frames are stronger. And they have a machine gun mount!

Both the earliest CJ-5 frames and the mil frames have shackle reversal.

Do you have a line on an M170 frame or is this just speculating? M170s are pretty scarce.

 

Just speculating another project. I have a line on a m170 but the body is toast.

I used a Commando frame on my CJ6, I expect Commando frames and M170 frames are very similar, never seen an M170 frame in person. Commando frames are fully boxed, end to end, and pretty much a bolt in proposition. Good luck!
