Hi all, haven't been here for a while.
Life got in the way and my Jeep had to wait on the sidelines for a bit.
    Anyway...
Is this crossmember at the link a direct fit up to a 70 CJ5?
Seems to be far superior than the Omix ones everyone is selling.
    Thanks!

Same thing '55-'71 but be aware that the M38A1 part is different from the CJ5 part- different width, different hole positions & no license plate slots.

They don't seem to have the inner piece, if the outer is shot than most likely the inner is as well, Classic sells them as a package.

    Thanks Howard!!
That's what I was looking for, Google kept sending me to Omix parts which I try to avoid.
They seem to have the hat channel for my tub also.
    Thanks again.

I think the rear crossmember that Quarterton sells is made by Midwest Military up in Wisconsin. Carefully compare the stamped holes and spacing with what your CJ5 has. I think they will look similar at a glance, but many holes will not be identical. The M38a-1 did not use a drawbar/hitch, so a lot of holes are not the same. Little details like the two small holes on either side of the PTO hole are not there on the A-1 version. That crossmember does have a double layer thickness in the area between the frame rails, so that is good.

I was wondering about the PTO since I plan on putting one on mine.

Well, UPS just dropped off the one from Classic Enterprises.
All I can say is that I am less then impressed.
There are no holes for the PTO, license plate or body mounts.
The holes in the stiffener are about 1/4" off from the holes in crossmember.
And I will have to beat it onto the frame.

    Mmm. I'd call them.

I did just give them a call.
They are definetly some stand up folks and made it right.
Apparently they were getting complaints that there were to many holes so they took them out and didn't update the pictures on their website.
As for the hole misalignment it's workable and after looking closer at it, it looks to be a simple operator error when it was formed.

But as I said they made it right, I'm happy and will be ordering from them in the future.

Thats why I was suggesting the crossmember you originally linked (sold by Quarterton) made by Midwest. The Classic pieces had holes that didn't line up with anything, maybe only two that fit.
The Midwest crossmember is a pretty nice piece, but no one makes one that correctly fits the 1960s CJs hole for hole.
