Cj5 Struts

Are the front and rear struts of a 62 CJ5 different? Some pages sell them as interchangeable, while Kaiser Willis have two different part numbers. Here is the kicker: on KW page, they specifically tell the rear is stronger and has a longer extension, however, the description has them with identical extended and compressed lengths and diameter of the hole. What gives? I need to replace them but I want to be sure. Thanks!

 

I assume you are talking about the shocks. I am not familiar with the 62, but I do know that the later 60's ones have the same mounting post diameter front and rear, top and bottom. The one of mine I bought new shocks for had a 2 1/2 lift, so I went on the KYB website and found ones with the right mounts and compressed/extended lengths. If yours are stock height springs, I am sure someone here will chime in on the various brands and part numbers.
