Worked late last night and got it on the rotisserie. I'm not good with woodwork so building this thing really kicked my butt.

 

Love the wood rotisserie! Just be careful with welding sparks, you don't want one to smolder and burn the place down. I was thinking about building a rotisserie very similar to yours, as woodworking is much more natural for me than metal work.

 

Are these pieces running from the back to the frame factory??

 

I've never seen that brace, but I've never been in that deep on a CJ6. I'd say that it is original due to the square re-enforcement plates near the tailgate opening where it is attached to the bed floor. Does your Jeep have the fuel tank under the rear bed?

Not a whole lot. It’s been a crazy crazy month or so. I’ve got two engines setting in the shop and got the frame ready to be cleaned and start beefing it up. I’ll prob start some decent updates after the first of the year.

 

I've got a 72 CJ6 project sitting in the shop. Ill crawl under and see if mine has that bracing and report back...

So I got some work done this weekend. I got the frame completely stripped and started cleaning it up. I found one small crack near the rear drivers front spring hanger but that looks like it. The engine.... most probably saw that cluster in the for sale section . I have had a lot more experience with AMC era jeeps than Kaiser so please excuse my stupidity. That V6 had the cracked block, I bought a 302 before I even knew the block was cracked. Well since you cant sell an engine with a cracked block I decided to take it to a friend's dad who is an incredible welder and see what he can do. He says its fixable so if it comes back and is up to par i'm going to freshen it up and just use it. I like the idea of keeping the buick instead of the 302 now. I also ordered a new rear crossmember and a trans crossmember, the rear one was not there and the trans one had more holes than metal. So I need some advice please. I'm kinda lost on what trans to use. I have a friend who has a NP435 that I can get cheap (will need going through) but i'll need an adapter bellhousing and a transfer case adapter. I wanna keep the factory rear axle and transfer case. What do ya'll recommend?

 

NP435 and 302 would be a nice combo. I went buick v6, sm465 to stock tranfer case on my cj6 project. I like the Ford t18 / 225 swap in my 3b better which would be similar to the 435 I believe.

 

The NP435 is a great trans, similar in gearing to the T18. In a CJ-6 it will be fine, but in a short 5 or Flat fender, things get tight. The NP435 adapter is 5 or 6" long, while a T18 adapter is only about an inch to adapt to the T-case. Both can be easily adapted to a Ford small block using factory parts. I'm not sure about adapting the T18 to a V6, but it's been done many, many times.

 

Can anyone tell me what this bracket is (not the one that holds the brake line)?

 

Used on v6 models to keep from bashing the oil filter. Should be a corresponding snubber on the ps of the factory 27 front.
