I found a brand new throttle spring from an expedition ;) and stretched it a little to run from the oilbath to the throttle linkage on the solex. pops that pedal right back up.

"Help" sells an assortment of return springs. Most have a long tail without a hook so they can be cut to length.

I used the same one that was on the Carter. Correct spring placement for stock linkage is on the bellcrank mounted on the side cover stud. It'll extend vertically to clip into the little plug in the side of the block which is drilled through to accept the spring loop. The hole is usually plugged up with grease and hard to see, but should be there unless it's been replaced during a rebuild. It'll pop the pedal up like new and give correct tension for the Solex. I've seen alot of Carters with the spring on the pass. side coming off the carb to a jury rigged mount. All that does is side load the throttle shaft, wear it out and cause air leaks. HTH.

Billy, here's my setup. There is a little "L" shape bracket
bolted in the coil bracket bolt. I still need to punch an
extra hole in the carb lever. So it doesn't mess w/ the
    manual throtle.
