Probably been answered already but, I need to replace wiring on my 1971 CJ5. What’s the best kit to use for a guy that’s not great on electrical? How many circuits do I really need?

    Thanks in advance!

There should be no reason to replace the wiring harness, just pull the dash off and follow the wires they all go somewhere. Fix the ones that are not right and go on your way. Jeeps are simple and not too hard to figure out, just look at it and you will be able to see what is not right. Good luck

Walck's makes wiring harness that should work. They are close to original. Since you still have the old one still in, it would be a easy switch over. The old harness do not have fuses, which some owners want, so they use a different harness. I am restoring my Jeep and used a Walck's harness. Like Rick said, the Jeep wiring is very basic.

Well, the original harness has some inline fuses, but not a fuse panel like some people want. The first year for a fuse panel in a CJ-5 was 1975.

Thanks, the wiring is a mess under the dash, I’d like to upgrade to a fuse panel as well. I’ll do some more investigating.
