Rear Engine Plate

    From the factory, was the rear engine plate on the F134 left bare metal, painted or what? Mine has some surface rust so trying to decide whether or not to paint it.

    I don't know if it was bare, but any protection that would have been on there is long gone. I would definitely paint it if it was mine, especially with the surface rust already on it.

    It doesn't look like any paint except some overspray around the starter hole on the outside.

    I was thinking it wasn't something that would have come painted originally. That's strictly a guess on my part however.

    Painted. I found remnants of black paint on Ted's when I rebuilt his engine. My guess is the engine and transmission and transfer case were painted as one unit then dropped in the chassis. I also discovered that the steering box was bolted to the frame with the worm shaft sticking out. When I upgraded Ted's steering, the original worm shaft was all black and the frame was bare behind the box. I guess the tub went on next and the column was last.
