Side Mount Tire Bracket??

A few months ago I picked up a tailgate off CL for $50 (wall hanger), still had local AMC dealer decal, I believe it’s from a ‘74. Out of curiosity it fit ‘46 perfectly.

 

I have that tailgate on my 64 Tux, I think it came on the 71 box I used when I redone my tub. On the Tux the license plate covers the logo so it doesn't matter.

 

The Kaiser years ('64-'71) don't have any name on the tailgate, just a blank raised boss where the earlier ones have "Willys" embossed. The M38 was the early exception with a blank boss. Sometime around the later '71 year, the raised boss got larger and was embossed with "Jeep" as AMC was taking over. Yes, all the tailgates have the same dimensions from '45 through at least the 1970's, so will interchange.
