Some tapered roller bearings. I can get the number off them when I get it back.

 

Timken LM11710 & LM11749, these were the ones I installed. The bore is .6875. I love how Timken gives dimensions in millimeters on their website but all tapered roller bearings are built using standard dimensions.

 

Howard here is what it looked like clamped to my mill. Kind of scary but worked out OK.
It is bolted to a 1-2-3 block that is clamped to the table with gage blocks under the round part and 2 tow clamps against the arms pressing it to the table. This was actually quite rigid.

 

I did use a boring head, the plate will work but I trued up the faces of the hole as they had wear marks and would not sit flat.

 

Wow! As someone who knows very very little about what you do, Mike, I have to say that it looks both scary and impressive. The outcome certainly seems impressive. I wish I could apprentice with you for a few years.

 

Howard I did it with the boring head, the main reason was ease of setup, the part would be hard to set up on my small 6” rotary table. If you have a larger one go for it. I like to use a boring head because it is easier for me to control size and guarantees it’s round with no interruptions.

Thanks guys I would love to have somebody around that shares my passion!! I keep thinking my son in law will take more of an interest, my son sure hasn't.

 

If you were closer to me, I would be there all the time! I have so many engine projects...

 

Got the modified bell crank yesterday. I cannot wait to put it on my jeep now!

I sure hope so. I need this modification done to my other jeep as well!

 

So as long as this seems to workout ok, I have no problem with doing it again.
