Set up for production work making widget after widget after widget- no speed change mechanism, hydraulic powered, no cross slide, no tail stock, collet holder chuck.

If you're getting into widget protection it's just the tickie, if you ever need to make a thing-a-ma-bob it's useless.

Might be worth it for parts or something. Who can't use and extra motor laying around the shop, or step pulleys or drive belts. I see some cool shifter handles/levers there for some project or another.

Thats what i was wondering. The $5 bid price seemed too good for a small lathe

The geometric die head in the turret is worth at least $200 on its own. If I had the space I'd buy it. Rivett made very good machines. It would be good for small parts like screws, rivets, nuts anything with a knurled edge, small bushings and a host of other small parts under 1" in diameter.

    Check out this video.

Dear god do not buy this thing for using as junk parts, leave it together and let someone have a real machine, they don't make anything like this anymore, that would be like stripping a ww2 jeep a part for the gears in the steering box and transmission to make a go cart with.

Well stated McRuff! That is a nice machine, especially for custom making bolts and fasteners. I would consider buying it just for the tapping head. My brother has a Smid turret lathe he bought kind of on a whim. He found he uses it all the time!
I just looked at the list of auction items. I wish I lived near Otisville (wherever that is). I would be bidding on items #108,116,121,123, and 129. #112 is my blasting cabinet in my shop. Too bad its pick-up only!

[peeking out of my corner] Interesting now that I see what it does or can do. Thanks for the video. [slips back into corner]
