I've always liked that body style. If I was in a position to do it, I would jump on it.

 

Looks like a no-brainer to me, you get a heck of a beater. Lockers, winch, 36s... Looks like fun.

And the motor might be mis-diagnosed and something cheap and simple to fix.

 

Yah, like add 2 qts of oil and you're good.

 

I once paid $200 for a '65 CJ5 because the guy thought the engine was going to self-destruct. The noise he was fearing was just the rubber overflow tube for the radiator smacking against the fan blades.

You just never know.

 

I miss my 2 door xj. I'd be all over that.

 

My Dad had the exact same rig but only 31's on it. That thing was an awesome wheeler. The intake bolts come loose and cause them to idle funny, may be the problem.

 

I'd put a plow on it. Looks like a deal even if it needs an engine.

Great at high speed on dirt roads at night.

Driver's doors tend to fall off but the hinge can be welded back on easy enough. Check the floor pan and rockers for rust. And lose those goofy tires.
