Restoring Small Parts

What would have been the original finish of these parts? Wire clips etc..

 

Just a faint memory, maybe guessing, but I'm thinking maybe black painted.

How do new ones come?

 

Probably black phosphate

 

I had some NOS ones and they were black phosphate

 

I can do black phosphate, they didn't seem like they were painted. They were all rusted, but some paint would have survived.

 

How do you do black phosphate?
