Speedo Gears For Calibrating?

Are there different speedo gears for the tranny to compensate for taller tires. I put on 215/R85 16 and now the speedo says 40 but iPhone says 42. Is there an adjustable steering stop?

Might be tricky finding the right one, I dunno.

But 5% is not a big variation in a speedometer. Even tire pressure could do that.

Have you checked at different speeds, or better, compared the odometer over a measured mile? ( The state DOT may have one laid out someplace.)

Yes the steering stops are adjustable, if you cut the weld on the thread.

Get rid of the iphone, problem solved.

Seriously, mechanical speedos are not dead on unless they've been specially calibrated (i.e. police cars), IIRC most are +/- 3 MPH anyhow. You won't find any special gears to fix it anyhow.

That was my first thought too, but I didn't want to be the one to say it. :D

I seriously wouldn't worry about it either. Going by the radar trailers the cops have out my '06 Ram is 1 mph off.

For the steering you might consider getting wheel spacers. Can you post a picture of the new tires? You know we'd love to see it. :)

PeteL, very strange thing. When I view this thread on my iPhone, for some reason there are red devil horns drawn in on your avatar. Not sure why.
