Rochester 2g Throttle Problem

I have a stock 1971 cj with the dauntless V6. I've been having an intermittent issue with the Rochester 2G carburetor. Occasionally upon acceleration from a stop, the throttle will stick and the accelerator pedal will go almost to the floor by iteslf. When I disengage the clutch to keep from speeding out of control and quickly stomp on and release the accelerator pedal the throttle becomes unstuck. I can understand the throttle sticking but it's beyond me as to how it could further accelerate seemingly on its own??? I can't duplicate the problem with the hood up. It only occurs while driving, and only from a stop. It's a stock set up with a double throttle return spring. The throttle works freely, and the accelerator pedal linkage is not making contact or inhibited by anything. Could it be something internal, or a vacuum issue?? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The manifold vacuum could be pulling the throttle plates open. The tab on the throttle shaft is adjustable. The tab with the two springs attached is slide-able. Slide it about 1-1/2 inches back on the throttle shaft and try it again.

Thanks. I did realize that had an adjustment. I'll try it.

Yep you just slide it up the rod and it is self locking.
