Towing is not going as well as I initially thought. The nearly new front tires are at about half tread now, likely due to excessive toe in after the lift was installed. I did an eyeball toe in, so hopefully they won't wear so bad on the rest of the way back.

Rotate them with the backs in another couple hundred miles?

I thought about that, but I think it would be better to replace two bad ones than have four mostly worn tires. After adjusting the toe, its no longer wearing so badly fortunately.

Excellent! So overall do you still feel like you got a decent Jeep and the trip was worth it? Of course more pics of it would be cool. :)

Yep, the truck was having an electrical issue and we were afraid if we shut it off it would not start again. So my friend and I took turns driving for the remaining 17 hours to avoid having to shut off the engine.

Yes! I have never been to Colorado, and it was beautiful! My biggest regret for the trip was that I could not stay and enjoy the scenery longer. As far as the Jeep, it is very rust free and original. I'm not sure about the engine condition yet, but I think the rest of the Jeep makes up for that considering what I paid for it.

What are you going to do with your Tux ?

The Tux is going to sit pretty in my garage for most of the year. I bought the red jeep to so I can take it to college with me. During my first year of school, I really missed my Jeep. I didn't want to subject the Tux to the harsh winter, outdoor storage, potential theft, vandalism, etc. so thats why I decided to get another one. Also the 300 mile drive to school would be awfully slow with the F134.

That Tux was pretty. Gave me some motivation to get my build done. At our age, owning two jeeps, you may need help. All I can say, pay attention at school, get good grades, you will need a good paying job, you have a terrible habit.

    Ditto what colojeepguy said!
I've lived in KS and now I live in UT. There was no way I could stop to live in CO; no suitable employment; otherwise I would have!
Anyway, be sure and visit the southwest corner. The San Juans have some incredible Jeep roads.

Could this thread be moved to the build section?

So far I have replaced the body mount bolts, engine mounts, trans mount, and clutch linkage. I went through the wiring harness and got that sorted out (none of the lights were working correctly before). I also made a minor change to the exhaust so that it wouldnt interfere with the license plate. New seat belts and a soft top were installed. Steering was given some rough adjustments.

Today I took it out for its first drive around town. I went to the gas station, the license branch, and an ice cream stand.

It drove great under about 40mph. Above that speed, the engine will cut out, almost like the key has been turned off. After about 5 to 10 seconds, it comes back to life. I'm thinking fuel pump maybe?

Sounds like a good place to start, or a clogged filter.

    Looks good!

When mine did the same thing - more like at 50-55mph - it was the beginning of a fuel pump failure. Getting any gas in the oil (assuming it is using the mechanical pump)? Clogged fuel filter, fuel line or pick-up in the tank? Sound like your on the right track.

On a different topic - what elevation are you at? Wondering if you might need to increase the main jets in the carb as you are probably quite a bit lower elevation than SW Colo. Running lean can cause some problems in the long run.
