    Single circuit system?

Yes, it's a single circuit system. I bought a hanging pedal kit, master cylinder, and hydraulic clutch kit from Advanced Adapters and it comes with a single circuit brake system.

Even though the molded letters on the MC say, "CLUTCH" and "BRAKE", the connections are reversed in this Advanced Adapters kit.

This week I installed a new water pump on my 1966 CJ5, F4. Took about 5-6 hours to remove the old pump with fan, and then the prep, installation of the new pump, bolt on the fan, and refill the coolant through filter paper (re-using what I had drained) also took about 5 to 6 hours. All of this working alone (and losing about 1/2 hour to hunting for a dropped bolt). Only did a short test run. Pump and hose connections seem to be solid. Actually, first few miles out, I overheated because I left the cap loose to burp out the trapped air. That left too little coolant in the system and steam blasted out from under the hood. Freaked me out. Never had that happen before. Luckily I carried some water with me to cool matters down until I got home to add 50:50 water/antifreeze to proper level (about an inch below the bottom of fill spout, cold). I think that I can now safely say that the system is burped of trapped air. Now using a 7 psi cap to replace the 14 psi cap that I had long been using.

Here are some pics of the final product

Daryl wrote something a few weeks ago that I remember as, "If you buy an old jeep, resist the temptation to take the jeep apart with the intention of restoring it. Few jeeps ever get reassembled." I bought one of those project where the previous owner took a '68 cj5 apart, nearly down to the last nut and bolt. After the project languished in its disassembled state for some period of time (years?), I purchased the parts. It took a trailer and a pickup truck to move it all. Fortunately, he took a lot of pictures as he took the jeep apart and was good about putting small parts in labeled baggies.

When it came time to remove the jeep's PTO shaft, however, the shafts were rusted to the u-joints and the previous owner cut the shaft to remove it:

I found a 3' section of surplus keyed 3/4" shaft on ebay:

Over a period of several days and a lot of PB Blaster, I was able to remove the broken ends of the old shafts from the rusty u-joints. From the folder of pictures the previous owner captured, here's a picture of a homemade bearing support bracket. I found the bracket in one of the bins of parts, but I didn't want to use it. I don't like the way the bracket is attached to the bottom lip of the frame and how the bracket and bearing hang below the edge of the frame. I decided to make my own bracket that would keep the PTO shaft tucked up above the bottom of the frame:

I measured where the bearing needed to sit and then transferred those measurements to a piece of cardboard. I used the template to cut out a piece of steel, then drilled and bent the bracket to shape.

Here's a picture of the installed PTO shaft and my new bracket holding the pillow block support bearing. Man, I love the bolts-by-the-pound at Tractor Supply.

Both the PTO shaft and the u-joints have a slot. A key fits in the slot to prevent the shaft from spinning in the u-joint. I got the key stock from Amazon.

Cut two keys from the stock:

Winch end of the shaft (since the time I took the picture, I've installed a set screw):

The shaft turns smoothly and easily. The chassis is done. Now onto the tub.

Got the tires mounted Thursday. White letters out of course :) I put the better tires on the front. They probably wouldn't stick out so much but there are 2in? wheel spacers on the jeep.
Also, I installed one of those new electronic distributors because the bushings were a bit worn in the old one.

I sanded a lot of primer today with 320 and water.

hood, all of the tub exterior and some of the interior.

need to hit the fenders next and then reshoot some of it (the grill especially).

Nothing super exciting to take pictures about.

Yesterday (Sunday) got to marry the transmission etc.to the engine.

T'was hard to keep the crossmember balanced on the floor jack, no helping hands, and the rental place was closed...

Mcgyvered a makeshift balancing solution (not recommended)

Did require ratchet straps (for safety) and cut bolts to guide the bell into place..

Spent four hours trying to figure out how I'm going to rebuild my transmission cover... Chopped the old one some more. I'll probably use what's left of the passenger side and start over on the driver's side. No pics unfortunately, because it would just be me scratching my head and staring.

Not being a mechanic, I pulled the carb and and installed the battery tray and battery. Then spend half the afternoon looking at my HEI trying to figure out the tough questions . . .What the heck is this and does it go spring side down or up?

I know there are several HEI threads, but I've got too many tiny terrorists running around the house, I barely get a chance to sneak out into the garage for 5 minutes these days. All the HEI threads are hard to find as there are several threads spread out all over the place on ECJ5.

I know the answers are around here somewhere, I just don't have the time to hunt and peck. :gaah:
