I feel your pain. Waiting for my engine pieces to get back from the machine shop. Every week I hear "probably the end of the week ".

I called Jeff and gave him a few measurements over the phone. He has the patterns on his computer and was able to make it up and ship it out in no time.
Fit's great! Just what I needed to keep the old noggin covered up from the AZ. sun.:)

    FWIW,

Dropped fuel tank and replaced sending unit. Hooray for working gas gauge! Wrapped up leak-down test. It’s not looking good. One cylinder lost 67%. Others between 15 and 40%. Almost all were past the rings. I think a rebuild is going to be on the to-do list next year.

I opened up my oil passages in the timing cover to 1/2", radiused the edges of the passages and set the clearance on the gears to 0.002, along with a new thrust plate. After fooling around with the stock oil filter housing/gear cover, I just ordered a new one from T/A Performance. My threads were boogered up on the filter nipple. I have always had to be very careful installing the oil filter, now it should be slick.

I disassembled my rocker shaft assemblies and cleaned everything up. They were pretty clean to start with, and the rockers and shafts were tight and in good shape. The tips of the rockers where they contact the valves were worn a little bit and a light sanding on the belt sander, just enough to remove the marks, followed by a quick polishing made things like new again. I reassembled with some Lucas assembly lube, oiled them down and put them in a Ziploc bag. Ready to go on the engine, someday, if it ever comes back home for reassembly.

I've had about 45min a day out of the cell with the boys. Trying to tackle little things for better reliability and just making little things right. (Nothing I can't step away from)

Installed a relay for the starter solenoid.
(Might seem redundant but it's not happy without it).
Pulled the pizza slice off the drawbar to flip and level the m416.
Started on a 7pin rv socket. it will look more appropriate than a 4 flat on an army trailer. Allows for backup lights, aux 12v plugs.
Most importantly I need it to charge the camper's battery (don't tell the wife there are other ways to charge it, I need my excuses)

Next I'm Gonna put in a relay to control the dual heater motors like 2speed dual motor radiator fans.

I set my clearance with the thrust plate, but now I realized I don't need it with the new oil pump cover I bought from TA Performance because that's flat as well. Bolted it on, and installed the water pump, because I am running out of things to install. Now I have a complete timing cover and no engine to put it on yet.:waiting:
