What was the difference between the cj vs commando V6 emblems? The paint scheme was different somehow, wasn't it? I can't find my answer anywhere and I know we've discussed it here before.

Internet picture copy states Commando in original colors-- My 1967 CJ5 has the same--original, I don't know. Are the Jeep whatever V-6 emblems the same/just "one fit all"?[IMG]

Some were like the pic above, and some had the "V" in black...

Thanks for the picture and replies.

I think I recall that the color of the V was specific to the cj or the Commando. The posted info would designate then, that the red V is Commando and the black V is cj, if there is in fact any truth to what I think I remember.

'68 CJ5. Mine are both black.

Few years ago I pulled two off a '66 CJ5 and they were both black.

Sounds like we need to hear from the Commando junkies.

I went out and scraped the camo paint off that the PPO put on, no colors undernieth so they must have soda blasted them or something.

Some can't see my photo. The symbol is red and black, with mounting posts.

These are from my first '66 CJ5 Tux taken off in '70. I know they are original...

    What about the background colors?

I've got a set off a 67 tux and a set from a 70, and one has the gold/white/red like above, and the other set has black/white/red. Both have (or had) the studs.

The rare black/white/red background has just been reported! So far here, the b/w/r is rare, and also in my limited research it's rare. There, I got "rare" in 3x, make that 4x!

That's cool. I can't remember which emblems are from which year; I know the 70's studs were broken off and the '67's weren't. I'll look later.

As noted in post #2, my January '67 CJ5 has a red V and black 6 with a gold/white/red background. Don't know if they're original.

I know mine are original. They are glued on. The letters used to be black but faded over the years. My jeep was born in April, 71.
