Picked up this slick little CJ today. Through a random chain of events I picked it up from the original owners. They said it got re-done in the early 80's and hasn't been used much since. Thought I'd show it off a little and have a spot to keep a log of the upcoming shenanigans.

Just got it home into the garage.

"Interior" is in good shape with some 80's add-ons. They seemed to have done a good job on all of it.

They addded a voltmeter, ammeter, and oil pressure gauges. Knobs are (from left): hazards, lights, and a cigarette lighter. Horn and blinkers work as well... nice.

Around the speedo is the choke, hand throttle, fan, and heater control. I was glad to see the glove box was in good shape.

Mystery heater and some 80's speakers.

    Nice clean tool bin.

    Seats are in great shape.

Anyone need some Fenton mags with a set of Super Cats?

If only it ran as good as it looks.

And my favorite part... the original dealer key and keyfob, owners manual, service manual, and all of the maintenance records. Crazy.

So it currently does run, just not very well, haha. I'll posting up in here with plenty of questions as I get her going. End goal for this thing? Get it mechanically sound, put the original wheels/tires back on, replace the original spare tire mount, and fill some of the holes in the dash.

  5. look like a great little jeep. I wish mine was that nice when I started. I bet that wasn't cheap! Good Luck...have fun!

So if anyone has original bumpers/bumperettes and wants the diamond plate stuff that's on here, just let me know as I would gladly trade them. Same goes for original wheels with NDT's or something else from that timeframe... you know you want the super cats...

Where is that guy these days? I've been overseas for the past few years... it would be cool to catch up and see if he's still rolling his green CJ.

Very nice Jeep. Before you fill in the dash, could you take some pics of how the CB is mounted in the dash, particularly the back side? I would like to make some practical use of the radio hole in mine. Looks like it was loved and taken care of.

The wheels are made by Fenton.

I think Bill is in Kansas and pretty certain the CJ was sold. He still posts occasionally on "this old jeep" forum.

So I got the Jeep running today after rebuilding the carb and fidgeting with the ignition timing. Just waiting on some packages from brown santa and the festivities can begin. The projects lined up thus far are:
-sort out random soft top pieces that came with the jeep
    -install electronic ignition
    -install factory spare tire holder
-locate factory steel wheels and tires
    -get factory bumpers
    -fix non-functioning speedo
    -fix the radio

Tang, did talk to Bill today, he is in North Platte NB. Rat Rod is for sale. His wife just doesnt fit in it. He's looking for an old military ambulance or a powerwagon.

He's moved around a lot, got married, just bought a house somewhere in Nebraska, I think it is. Sold The Slug years ago, got his rat rod truck all finished and dialed in. Got his # if you want it.

Your '55 looks like it has a '56 speedo in it.
