My clutch peddle is so dadgum hard to push. I looked up underneath and saw that the clutch cable is routed to the rear about 12" then turns between the body and frame and goes back towards the front to the pedal. Is this correct and if it is what can you imagine might be the cause of the 1,000 psi required to engage my clutch? 1970 CJ5 with 3 speed trans.

    That's correct for a'70
If it's that hard, I'd suspect it needs a new cable. Take it out and see if it moves freely by itself.

Great advise. Thank you. I will do that tomorrow in stead of trimming the hedges.

'70-71 might be different, but the '72 cable was a heap of trouble.

Lube the heck out of it and see if it helps. The plastic parts in the '72 cable would freeze to the cable, regardless of lube.
