Poor flatty is pretty ugly with these old wheels on it and the rear corner patches removed.[IMG] [IMG]

Haha! I just thought you were being sarcastic, as everything seems to be rare these days.

What isn't so rare is the amount of unneeded body filler I removed. Why do folks like to pile on more than is necessary?

Because they want the bodies to look smooth. People dont like the spot welds and the small divots they make, so the paint guys says, "I will give you a great paint job". To make it smooth there is about a gallon of bondo on each side. I have a pretty good fender that was not given a nice paint job ever and the spot weld divots on top of the fender are clearly visible. I left it that way.

Getting rid of the resale red of jeep paint jobs? What color?

As I recall from the 70s, brand new Jeeps came fresh from the factory obvious welds. They were stamped, welded and painted ... AFAIK no effort was made to hide the spots and waves in the original metal. They may have done more for the Wagons, but CJ bodies clearly were painted in their raw state, direct from assembly. That was the product.

Also, my son's Jeep is at the high school auto shop, and should be getting sprayed tomorrow. His windshield frame is done, so I took it and the flatty frame down to the glass shop for new windshields.

This is going to be awesome...Can't wait to see the results.

I've been thinking about trying to paint mine something besides primer green. I might rely on Maaco???
