What would you pay for this?

I'm getting close to being able to strike on something. A while ago, I mentioned the Jeepster/Commando thing and since then my mind had the chance to wander to the possibility of an intermediate CJ-6. For giggles, I did a SearchTempest for Jeepsters last night, and this popped up:

    http://pueblo.craigslist.org/ctd/4345301884.html

I know this was off and on Craigslist last summer in the La Junta/Rocky Ford area, and I was surprised to see it pop up at a dealership in Pueblo (trade in maybe?).

Anyway, dealer is has the price @ $4994 which if the interior isn't trashed and there aren't any substantial rust spots may not be a horribly unreasonable price. But! I'd like to nab it for something in the lower $4K range.

    Am I being unreasonable?

    Thanks!

    Waggs.

Money in hand is better than a list price.

In that condition, I wouldn't pay over $2500. I picked up a '71 in better condition for $1200

Thanks for the replies all. Definitely gives me a strategy to approach the dealership with.

To bad you live so far away. I am going to sell my 67. IT is fully restored. I wouldn't go over $1200.00 bucks on that one.

Waggs, understand your want of a Commando. Not many around, and good looks. Use to have one. A little selfish here, but if you do lean towards a CJ, I have a nice original 62 Universal I would sell for less money. Here in Falcon. If not, I'll keep my eyes open for a Commndo for you. Have seen some in backyards now and then. Ward

    Ward,

I genuinely appreciate the offer, but I have a few desires:

    1) MUST have enough room in back to get a marginal night sleep for me (and a dog, I do this now in an '89 4Runner).
    2) Be an adequate daily driver
    3) Be a capable "overland" vehicle.
    4) Have a Jeep slot grill 8)

I would LOVE to have a CJ-5 again but it doesn't meet my space needs.

And to Don above, I appreciate your consideration as well, but 1971 (and '70)? seems to be the sweet spot for Jeepster/Commandos prior to going "intermediate".

    Thanks again all.
