Is there such a thing on the market? Or has someone here made one or had one made?

Not that I've ever seen.......but my hoodie with ski hat and gloves did me well in the freezing so-cal weather

    You mean insulated?

My soft top often takes exception to me.

If you were handy, you could rig something. I'd expect they are like houses, and most of the heat escapes through the roof. Naked metal floors are going to act like big cooling panels - carpets and carpet padding would help.

Easy enough to add something but it's going to make a hash of folding it up. Maybe you could make something that would snap or velcro in.

Of course you'll still have the windows not insulated unless you can find a way to double glaze vinyl (hint- the built in static charge is your enemy- don't ask how I know :() and the darn things will never be airtight anyhow.

And the sides. And the firewall. And the pedal holes. And the doors. And the tailgate.

if you're running the stock heater It might be more to the point to upgrade to one with a decent output.

Id agree your best bet would be to upgrade heater and heat output. I think insulating the top, while you would make some gains, is really a losing battle.

Thanks for the advise. I will look into a heater upgrade as a first line of attack... If that isn't doing the trick I might try a snap in or velcro option.

You're mother was a Bronco soft top and your father was a boat canopy! That kind of insulted? :D

California Tops makes insulated soft tops for Jeeps, but it may just be newer Jeeps and not available for JEEPs and other CJ-5s.

Something along the lines of a shower curtain behind the front seats would reduce the heated space and might improve comfort.

the wife hangs a blanket over the roll bar, effectively making a half cab inside the hard top. helps a ton on those cold days

One thing you may try is to check the fit on your existing top, ensuring there are minimal gaps for air to leak. Also ensure all rubber boots on the fire wall and floor boards are in good shape, again to minimize heat loss.

I have a quilted soft top insulator in my YJ, 3M thinsulate, quilted throughout black outside/silver inside.
It fits perfectly inside the top, over the roll bar and top hardware with velcro straps to connect it to the hardware, front plastic strip slides into the windshield just under the soft top and has roll up curtains for the side windows, no curtain over the back window. My son drives it daily to school and claims it's nice and toasty even here in MN with the -10 /-20 temps we've been having daily, really cuts out the wind noise as well.

For whatever it's worth, I had a soft top on my CJ5, and I installed a Summit (Heater Craft) heater, and it was plenty warm, at least down to -15*F .

I'm not sure where it came from, sorry.
I bought it from the PO when I bought the Jeep.
Paid $100 and I think it's worth every penny.
