Fuel Pump-Carburetor relation?

    The Jeep quit running so I went to try to figure out the problem on my '69 225 :v6: . I'm not real mechanical, but I started poking around and came to the conclusion the the fuel pump died (no fuel at the carb or fuel filter). It would fire with a little gas poured down the carb. So I replaced the fuel pump. Everything went together fine and I now have fuel at the carb, but it still won't fire. It has spark. It now smells like it's flooding.

    Can a fuel pump be weak and the carb adjusted to compensate? If so I wonder if I just need to lean out the carb to compensate for the stronger pump or is there another problem I might be overlooking?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Could be flooding, especially if you're smelling a lot fo fuel. With the failed fuel pump, and messing with the lines and connections, you may have stirred up some debris, and it got into the needle and seat, causing it not to seal, flooding the carb. try tapping on the carb with a screwdriver handle or the like new the fuel inlet, might knock it loose. Just a thought, it could be other things...........

    Yup. Float might have stuck. If all else fails, pull the top of the carb and check for dirt and proper float function.
