Got tub painted today, stuck 2 tires on to see what she looks like. Need to finish tie rods, so I can pull it out in the sun and see what the clear coat looks like. May sand down and clear coat again.

if you choose to re spray the clear use 1000 grit paper anything coarser will show scratches in the new finish.

Applied clear coated for the 2nd time. I think/hope I will be happy with it. Turning the lights off in the garage, close to bed time, will check it in the morning before I go to work. :)

Got the engine in, next on the list get the engine running. Will just wire the engine up to run, then will do the wiring harness. Not looking forward to this part of the build, wiring and carburetor.

    Looking good.

Look at my "build" thread for wiring pics if it helps.

Got the Radiator back from company that recored it, not cheap

Got the radiator installed, hoses hooked up. Had problems getting the right radiator hoses. The odd thing was a hose I bought for the top did not fit, but it worked on the bottom. There is a little kink at the bottom of the hose where it comes out of the water pump outlet.

What about putting a spring in the hose to help hold the shape?

I do not know if a spring will help. The kink is right after the outlet from the water pump. Might get a hose from Walck's, he said he has one that should work.

Clear coated 3 times before I was happy with the finish. To be honest, I figured out the clear coat and how to put it on the last spraying and I was done. May go back and recoat some peices I did. Time will tell

Looks like you may be cramped a bit with the oil filter and hose. Even with the original radiator and proper hose, it is tight.

I have a aftermarket oil filter housing and the angle of the filter will be different than the orginal one. It does not look to bad up close, will find out when I put a filter on

Got a AC PF 24 oil filter and installed it, the filter was in front of the radiator outlet. Was blocking about a 1/2 of the outlet, so that filter would not work. Read a thread on here about using a Wix 51042 filter, got a filter, the gasket was the same. Put the Wix filter on, it worked but it is smaller. This problem is from using the after market oil filter housing. Will probably need to change filter ever few thousand miles.

Steve: I hope you don't mind me asking, but how much did it cost for you to have the radiator re-cored? I am facing the same issue and wondering if I should just go new.

$300.0 for the core, $150.00 for labor plus a few other charges. Walk out the door $475.00.

Painted brake drums and calipers. Installed the heating plenum and got the heater hooked up to it.
