Got me some bling baby

    Picked up a set of Rancho RS9000XLs for the LJ yesterday.
    Got front and rear JKS bar pin eliminators as well.
    Found a used AEV tummy tuck in good shape for $200 from a local jeeper that will fit.
    And found a set of mud flaps that I like. Oddly enough they are Mopar but they are not the molded ones. Best thing is I can modify a set of the back flaps to work on my trailer.


    Now I just need a nice Saturday to put it all on.

    Nice. I'll be doing a tuck on my TJ after I do the motor mount lift..And been think about bar pin eliminators. The aftermarket shock bushings just look like they won't last real long on the bar pins..

    I started thinking about it. And decided they were not an awful lot more. And since I was taking the shocks off anyway I only wanted to do it once. I did not want to decide in 6 months I should have done it and had to take it all apart again.

    Those bar pin eliminators will be one of the best investments you'll make, those factory upper rear shock bolts seize up really well, a royal pain.

    My RS9000XL adjusters have seized due to rust from road salt. No longer adjustable
    When they worked, I liked them...

    Luckily that is not a problem here in the south. ;)

    I have used the 9000s on several vehicles now. I love how they ride and really like being able to adjust them when towing.

    Okay, the JKS are a pain to put on. This is only because the Rancho's came with the cross pins already installed. It took me 3 hours to figure out the best way to get the first pin out without destroying the bushing. I finally gave up trying to save the bushing and just replaced it. The next 3 took 15 minutes each.

    Hard method (save the bushing): Cut the crimmed end off the pin and try to drive it out. This does not work.
    Easy methond (destroy the bushing): Cut the crimped end off the pin with my band saw. Next Using the drill press, drill the pin out. About half way through the bushing starts to melt and allows you to pull the other side of the pin out. But it does destroy the bushing.

    Unfortunately that ate up all the time I have today. Got a party to go too this afternoon. At least all 4 shocks are ready to go on tomorrow.

    The shocks went on without any trouble.

    The stock shocks were definately trash. It rides so much better now.
