    Hello, it's been a long time since I have posted here and I hope this is the right place in the forum to post this question. For the actual first time I went out and found my serial number (I think) on a bright stainless steel plaque stamped to the firewall and wrote it down. My first set of numbers is 57548 on the left side of the plaque and on the right side of it are the numbers 33698. Is there any specific meaning to the numbers? They were very hard to read.

    Serial number makes it a 1956 model......

    Are you kidding me? I tried reading that chart briefly and couldn't decipher it. I guess this means all the parts I ordered for my restoration for a 55 are not going to work. I can't believe this.

    57 = Universal
    54 = Open Body (Universal - CJ-5 Except Diesel)
    8 = Universal
    33698 = serial number. From the info we have, serial numbers 27007 to 45922 were defined as the 1956 model year.

    I don't know what the differences are between 1955 and 1956.

    Thanks for the information. I talked to someone and they told me there is basically no difference. I am in good shape. Again thanks.
