uncomfortable gas pedal location

My gas pedal is a pain in the leg! Even with my heel back to the gas tank, there does not seem to be any room for my foot to comfortably work the gas pedal. Has anyone else had this problem? Can the pedal be moved or adjusted?

    Thanks

I did. However, my pedal is not stock. I believe it is out of some chevy. Still, I needed to move the brake pedal over otherwise my foot kept hitting the brake pedal when I would push it in. I had the brake pedal part cut and welded so it was more on the clutch side. hope this helps. I can provide pics if needed.

I think we need a picture of this. Make sure you take your water skiis off before you drive....lol

If the pedal is stock, you're really suppose to put your whole foot on the pedal, Especially the heel.

His '66 has a different pedal than yours. The older ones aren't hinged at the heel

Wow, I didn't know that, I thought all of them were the same as mine.

My 67 is hinged at the firewall, as was my '70....

My 62 is hinged at the heel.

My 69 was a firewall pivot and I didn't like it because it was hard to keep an even throttle over the rough stuff. I also used a hanging one in the 3B for a time-same results. Both were converted to heel hinge which I find far more comfortable and steady.

My 70 is heel hinged and with my size 14 gunboats I feel very comfortable while operating it. I would look at finding a heel hinged and ditch the current one as it sounds like it is way too close to the tank.

YES, I hate the way my gas pedal is hinged, my 69 is hinged on the firewall.

I'd like to add one that I've seen in a M38A1, which was hinged on the floor.

That would be a 4 cyl.
I assumed (maybe falsely) that the OP had a V6 with the firewall mounted pedal.

some pics of the pedals..no shoes

    with my shoe on..

no shoes...as you see my foot expands without shoes on..genetics..So I need the side to side room with the pedals.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Back of pedal..I also moved the Clutch pedal (plate you push with your foot) to the left. Lots of room now...

Actually, it looks like the PO did a nice job on those. Skinny is right where the factory would be. Personally, I like my brake and skinny close enough so I can easily get my right foot on both at the same time. I posted this once before, but this is the heel hinged version I made for the 3B.

I installed a different pedal in mine. The most comfortable position of the pedal is to have you heel resting on the floor. If you have to raise you foot to push on the pedal it's not right.
