Pictures of a stock engine bay

    Does anyone have pictures of a stock 74 engine bay? Looking to restore to original layout but mine was hacked beyond recognition so I have no reference to work off of. The parts manuals have been helping somewhat but I'd really like to see the real deal from a couple different angles. Thanks again!

    Bummer. Nobody on this huh?

    I guess what I am looking for really is how the wiring harness is routed around the engine compartment - can anyone provide a picture of that?

    Also how the emissions hoses run. I think the original routing had rubber lines coming off of the cto switches, vacuum advance, etc and connecting to metal lines which ran the length of the engine block - can anyone confirm this?

    Ill take some pics for you once I get my jeep back from the frame shop this week. My jeeps frame cracked and almost folded in on me when I was on the highway. My engine bay is completely stock so Ill take some pics for you.

    I've been wanting to see this, too..

    My engine compartment was tampered with extensively but is making a comeback.

    I've been using this diagram from the 74 parts catalog. There are all the wiring pics in the parts catalog under "electrical instruments"

    Thanks 74CJ5Guy really looking forward to seeing some pictures!!! Your frame let out on the highway??!! What happened?

    Thanks DREDnot. These are good pictures that I have been using as a guide also. See in the EGR emissions pictures - that is what I was talking about above. It looks like Jeep used rubber lines to steel then back to rubber for emission routing. I wonder if there is a hold-down clamp somewhere that keeps the emission lines from moving around.

    Well the PO did a crappy job fixing a crack in the frame and I hit a bump on the highway when I was driving home for the weekend. I pulled into my driveway and noticed the gap between the drivers side fender and tub was really big, almost as if it was spreading apart. so I got up under the jeep and saw the frame had cracked all the way through just behind the first tub mount. The only thing holding that side of the frame to the vehicle was that single tub mount, had I hit another big bump the thing could have folded while I was driving.

    They use that metal line to route it in close proximity to the exhaust manifold.
    The only hardware is that little "s" clip that clips the two pipes together.
    I had to fab my pipes out of 3/16 brake line.
    Once it's all hooked up, it pretty well supported by the rubber hoses and the one clip.

    Oh yeah. I see. I have never seen a CJ with its steel emissions tubes in tact. I am going to do something similar to what you did. By the way where did you get the heat shield for the manifold? I want to get one and actually hook up the air cleaner heat hose.

    That is crazy. Good thing you didn't get hurt. What was the verdict at the frame shop? Can they fix it?
