spartan turn signal question

Discussion in 'Early CJ5 and CJ6 Tech' started by technologyteacher, Jun 23, 2010.

  1. This may be a dumb question, but here it goes. What is the function of the light on the spartan turn signal switch? The light on mine has a blue rectangle lense. Is this light supposed to blink when the turn signals blink? Is it supposed to be a high beam indicator? Is is it just there for no apparent reason? Mine was inoperable before rewiring the JEEP. Now that the rewiring is nearing completation I am wondering on what the light was intended for.

    Thanks

Mine's green. Flashes with the turn signals.

If it's there, I want it to work. As Patrick said. Could be bulb burned out or Spartan signal switch is not making a good ground to the column.

  4. The bulb was bad, in addition it was not hooked up. I was curious on how to hook it up. It sounds like it should be wired into the turn signal circuit. Thanks

I wired the Spartan into a new Painless wiring harness, later 68 CJ5, the light comes on when the key is in ON position, it blinks off/on when left or right turn signal is activated. With standard 12volt bulb it wouldn't blink, I had to find the lowest 12v Amp draw bulb I could find to get it to blink (Radio Shack). Colored plactic window was missing, I used a colored magic marker to color the bulb.

Just for drill. The wire from that indicator bulb goes to the third terminal on the flasher that is marked "P" (pilot). That indicator bulb should come on only when the flasher is clicking.
