I totally understand that bill. Our last house didn't have a garage, it stinks. Fortunate enough now to have one and a car port hooked to it. So the jeep sets there when not in use.

When you get it in let us know how it went. I am looking into doing the rebuild as well.

with all the proper air tools, seal pullers, press etc.
    and my buddy helping me.
it took 4 hours to get to removing the i shaft.
only to find out (wait for it)
    i bought the wrong one.
the jeep is tarped sitting in a meadow with all the dismantled parts in a box on the seat.
    i am not complaining.
    it was my fault.
once i get this t/c rebuilt.
i am not working on it anymore.
this is i think the 5th time that i bought the wrong parts and got mad at an inanimate object.
this winter i will hire someone to install a O/D.

    P.S.
the intermediate shaft had shallow grooves worn in it.
but the gears and everything else looked great.
i have never seen the inside of a tranny or a t/c before..

    it's been a couple hours.
    yep i am calm.:D
and i knew i was in over my head and it would very probably turn into yet another labor intensive P.I.T.A.
that takes weeks instead of an hour or two.
    i mean.
why would this particular task be any different than all the other ones?;)

As long as you have the TF apart, get the spline and tooth count recorded so you order the right OD.
