Seatbelts?

What is a good seat belt for a CJ5? I have lap belts right now, but would feel much safer with a more modern belt with shoulder strap. What size should I get? The ones I have now bolt to the tub, and I have a plate on my roll bar that I can bolt the shoulder strap to. Who makes them for cheap? I think this is one of those things where you want them as cheap as possible, but no cheaper.

    Thanks for the help,
I finally got my motor running really smooth,
so it's time to go driving.

Peruse eBay a bit - there are quite a few YJ/TJ belt sets available.

Just looked them up in in JC Witney. You're right, kinda saucy...$85 and $100. Where did you get your lap belt? My 57 doesn't have anything yet.

The lap belts were on there when I bought it. If your interested in them, I wont have any need for them after I replace them. Let me know if your interested.

I upgraded my lap belts to a 3 point shoulder set from steel horse they work well were easy to install. I drilled and tapped the rollbar and also added a large nut that we welded into place for more threads to bit into.

I picked up a pair of 2" 4-point harnesses with the metal hook/loop type latch for $69.99 each. They look like great quality belts. I plan to set my kids up in the rear seat with them. I also plan to upgrade the front but for now, keeping the kids in is a priority. http://www.kartek.com/products/all/belts/belts.htm

I have read that you should not use a shoulder belt if you have low back seats.

I thought it was 4-pnt harnesses - think about the stock back seats of new Jeeps, they're pretty low and use shoulder belts.

I think that many of the seat-belt recommendations come from the racing community where speeds and impact levels would be much greater.

FWIW I plan on putting TJ-style seat/shoulder belts all 'round in SSDutch.

    Lets try this again...

I like the 4-point RJS belts. Can find good ones used on ebaY for $50/set. Racers have to remove these when the date code expires. Jepper's love em! Up here at the dunes these keep you snug in the seat on any bounce.

Note: this will require mods. Mine has a cross-bar behind the seats for proper attachment.

TJ belts would be the least pain.
