How to clean in side water jacket of 134 block

    How to clean inside water jacket of 134 block that I am restoring . I has too many rust and oil inside . What's reagent should I use better than radiator cleaner.

    I've always paid a few bucks to have the machine shop 'hot tank' the block. The caustic soda solution in the tank eats EVERYTHING, and leaves a nice, clean block inside and out. That stuff is so caustic, it will eat the cam bearings if you forget to remove them prior to dipping...

    I agree with Steve about having your block hot tanked if your motor is apart and you can take it somewhere to get it tanked.


    If your motor is still running and in your jeep, you might get some coolant flush from the auto parts store. Put it in radiator and let your motor run for about 1/2 hour. Then flush it out with a garden hose. I like to take off the top hose from the engine and slowly fill the radiator and let the water fill the block from the bottom of the motor and discharge through the top of the motor through thermostat housing. And I let it run for at least an ½ hour to it is running clear. This is also a great opportunity to replace your thermostat ;)

    Your probably not going to get all the rust out, but it will remove any loose particles floating around in your block and radiator. But should help getting alot of old stuff out of your water jackets. :hurrican:
