I looks from some of the printed material I have that my 74 CJ windshield frame should be some type of black (gloss, satin, flat). But I've seen so many CJs with the frame matching the tub.

Does anyone know what the factory setup was?

    Thanks,

    Gloss black on a '74.

Well, now I'm not so sure. Looking at the pics of my '73, it was black. But my '75 looks like it was body color. Both were purchased new.

    Part of a package?

I know my '74 was originally sold as the "utility" version, or some such lingo. Perhaps the Renegade package, or some other combo, offered color matched windshield.

Out of curiosity, does/did your '73 have a black tailgate, color coded, or no tailgate?

The Fairway Green '73 had no tailgate. Equipped like a Renegade, but not. The '75 was a plain, ordinary CJ-6. All I have are Polaroids, but the windshield was clearly the same color as the body (Daisy Yello IIRC).

    Mixed bag

Looks like we got a little of everything. Since I don't know what color the body will be, since I don't know where I'll get a tub or fiberglass from, I'm paintin' her gloss black.

    Thanks for the input.

    egh?

Well, I shot a couple of rattle cans at the thing and I don't like it now. Gonna match the body when I get it.

This is one of the few benefits of having your jeep in pieces scattered throughout your garage instead of on the road that I've been able to come up with! Easy to fiddle with.
