Does anyone have any pictures or info on the brackets used to mount the bumpers on a 64 tux park?
    Thanks.

This one makes it look like there wasn't a special bracket?

I'd agree on the front -- but wondered if the question was more about the rear.

I vaguely remember that it's a U shaped bracket for the rear, and the front just bolts to the frame horns. I might be mixing this up with the chrome bumper option on an Intermediate, but it's probably the same.

On my 66 Tux there are rear brackets but none on front. I will take pic and post soon as I can.

diggin up an old thread. Im trying to figure out why the bumpers have a third mounting bolt in the face and not on both sides? Was it for a brace or maby a licence plate bracket?

When I got my 66 in 1970, it had the license plate and bracket there. The bumpers are the same (swappable) front to back.

That would make the most sence i suppose. One more question. Iv got a front 1970 jeepster commando bumper are they the same as tuxedo cj ? They have the same frame dimentions and look alike in pics so im assuming so.

Don't quote me, but I remember some time ago that a member here stated that to be the case. I need both bumpers for my Tux so I have been searching for jeepster or tux but all are to far out of my budget. Some day somewhere, maybe.

Are you sure the front and back are the same, I just picked up a rear one and have not compared. Also, it would be nice if a Jeepster would fit, but I recall that I tried that route and it was longer? Moreover, Jeep was good about letting nothing go to waste and reusing it in diff. models. I have long suspected that the column shifter was not unique to a Tux but rather might have been the same for an AERO? Lastly, I hope that there is a similar solution for hubcaps because the prices on those puppies are just plain insane. I saw an NOS go for $1,000 on ebay, and then another set just the other day for $732. Any thoughts?

Well I have swapped front to rear more than once and also measured length and bolt hole locations and they are identical. The Jeep was only 4 years old when I bought it from the original owner. Not to say he didn't buy a new front bumper and put it on the back, but that doesn't really sound logical on a new vehicle. Altho dumber things have been done.

My 62 has this front bumper on it (curved chrome). Is this something somebody added at some point, or was it avaliable in 62? Is my 62 a "Tuxedo Park" CJ? Or at least start out as one? lol

When I got my Tux (66) I didn't realize there were any differences. I had the Jeep for about a month when a bunch of us went out on a trip. We were looking for a place to camp and the only thing in my way was a small tree. I bumped into it, intending to knock it over when someone hollered that they found a path, so I backed off and went around. Later in camp someone asked about my bumper. I looked and it had one huge dent! It was almost a 'V'. I couldn't imagine what happened until someone asked if I thought it might be the little tree.

When I got back to Las Cruces I couldn't wait till I got rid of that light duty stuff. I traded the rear bumper and all the padding in the rear area for a roll bar and a draw bar in the rear. I still have them. I doubt the chrome goodies would have lasted so long.

If I would have liked the chrome stuff, I would have had to replace the bumper after only about a month.

I'm not sure I understand your message, do you still have some of the tux items. If so, I might be interested. Please PM me.

Looking at the parts peculiar section, it shows the part nr 911135 2 each bumper bar front and rear. This means they are the same. What is the part nr 911137 arm, bumper, rear (chrome)? Don't have this and have never seen a pic of one. Where would it connect to and what would it be used for? Does not show it used on front.

Digging up an oldie here. My front bumper has quite a bit of rust on top. Rather clean on the bottom, the rear is in good shape. I am about to "swap". Are these just bolted on or are those riveted? After 52 years it is hard to tell.

Is it possible to replace with stainless or are there chrome bumper bolts as mentioned in this thread?
I need to start a build thread.

    Thanks,

Chrome bumper bolts are pretty standard. Your friendly auto parts store should have them.
