    Hi All,
Starting a new thread to follow the rebuild of my 65 CJ5. I picked it up on Saturday and started the tear down Sat evening.

Moved the chassis to the shed to keep the mess out of the garage while I clean the chassis and axles.

So far it is coming apart very easily for a 43 year old vehicle. Plan is to do a stock resto.

A few more updates. This evening I pulled the front axle, steering box, master cylinder, leaf springs and built some sawhorses to put the chassis up on. Hopefully I can get around to cleaning the chassis up tomorrow because i won't get much done on mother's day.

A little more progress today. Fixed the drivers side frame where the bumper attaches. It was kinda mangled.

Looks a bit better now

Then I cleaned up the drivers side frame rail and front cross member. Lack of space and time means I have to clean and prime the chassis as I go.

Threw some paint on just for motivation :beer::beer:

    A little more progress.

Chassis is cleaned, in primer and partly painted. Ran out of paint tonight so I'll finish it up tomorrow. Need to order a rear crossmember to replace the mangled mess that is there now. Also, I ordered new spring bushings, ubolts and center bolts so I can get started on rebuilding the spring packs.

man, what speedy progress. the project looks great. what are you going to do about the tub? fix any issues and use the stock one or get a new one? i like how you painted along the way for "motivation"... i do the same thing!R)

The tub is rebuilable so I'll just put in new floors up front and new side panels to fix the cut up fender wells.

Chassis is done with the exception of the rear crossmember, center crossmember and skidplate.

Tore into the rear 44 today. I have 5.38 gears but was wondering what this means?

R539. Is this an indicator of a rebuilt rear or is this factory?

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

    prolly factory
marking indicating 5:38(9) ratio would be my guess.
