Cam button

    Q:

    Is the cam button just a spring or is there something that goes over it? I just have a spring but didn't think that looked right.

    sources? It looks like I need a harmonic bal bolt too

    I got mine through Advanced Auto Parts, a FLAP. They have a good software listing of ECJ5 stuff.

    Autozone has the cam button for a 231 Odd Fire IIRC.

    They are a little black plastic dish about the diameter of a nickle or the Odd-Fire.

    The even fires that had a solid cam gear can have a metal button with a bearing-- technically superior to the plastic cam button.

    I made my button from a piece of Phenolic, which is what the original was made from.
    Here is a pic of one for reference.
