I snapped the shock mount off the u bolt plate.. From pic its supposed to be another 2 inches longer Where can I find one of these? Should I call the fabricators?

We've been through this with intermediate spring plates a few times before. IIRC no one sells an exact replacement - the '76-up springs are wider, and the '71 down plates have the shock pin ahead instead of behind the axle (?? not certain). This is the passenger side plate - I think you can get the driver's side for a '71-down and file the evenly spaced holes to fit the larger "U" u-bolt. Otherwise, get a grade-8 bolt similar to the shock pin and weld on a new one.

There may be better solutions - this is only what I vaguely rememember.

Glad it's fixed. Found myself in a similar position last week. Installing a Dana 44 in the front, and couldn't find anyone making plates for skinny springs and a larger axle tube. Was referred to R&P 4WD in the Portland, OR area. They make their own, and will build to any specs you give them - shock mount in front, back, etc.

This is exactly why I went and got my Hobart airforce plasma cutter, Lincoln 175 mig welder and some/lot's of scrap iron... built my own and my neighbors to boot. Took a little time...trial and error, but they turned out good. As u have probably read, I have 44 tru trak on front and 60 Detroit locker on rear. Wish u the best with your project. You will really enjoy the upgrade to the 44, etc!:beer: Have two on the Gunner!
